"...the Envelope, please!" is the Mother of All Oscar® Tests -- 200 questions on all aspects of the Academy Awards®, from winners and nominees in each category -- to the Ceremonies -- to Academy rules and procedures.
There are several ways you can use this resource:
- A test of randomly-generated questions illustrated with still photos and audio and video clips. This test tells you when you've answered correctly. Unfortunately, you have to keep track of your own score and you don't really have any control of what question comes next. (However, I have included a "Go to the next question on the list" button on each question page.) Also, each question page is referenced with my resource for the answer -- a feature that you'll find useful when browsing the material. Use this link to start this test.
- A series of ten 20-question tests that begin with the early days of the Academy and are grouped by era or Award category. Using these tests will assure your covering all the questions in the test. All the visual and audio illustrations are on the pages, but by necessity I've had to condense the size of presentation. In order to advance from test to test, you're required to answer at least 75% of the questions correctly on each test. When you've completed the test successfully, you're issued a Certificate with a link to the next test. However, this method of testing doesn't tell you which answers were correct or incorrect or what the source of the information is. If you'd like to research the questions further, use the resources on theOscarSite that are linked at the bottom of each test page. Use this link to begin these tests.
- A page with all the questions and links to each question page. Use the "Find" feature in your browser on this page when you're looking for answers for quizzes in your local paper or on the Internet.
The buttons on these pages are written in JavaScript©, so make sure that your browser can enable it to make the buttons work. If they don't work, then use the Text Links that are on each page.
I hope you enjoy these questions. Some of them are "no-brainers", but some of them will really tax the depth of your knowledge of Oscar. I've gathered them from my own site (Oscar® U), other web sites, and tests that have been posted on the Internet. When you've mastered this material, I guarantee you'll be the envy of everyone at your annual Oscar Party!
So, sharpen your wits and your pencils and let the fun begin! |
