81st Annual Academy Awards®
February 22, 2009

The Kodak Theatre, Los Angeles

Your Host: Hugh Jackman
Televised over ABC in HDTV

OPENING SEQUENCE, produced by @radical.media: Host Hugh Jackman welcomes the audience and explains that, due to financial cutbacks, the Academy told him there will be no big production number opening the Awards Show. But, he's going to do one anyway. He stayed up all night working in his garage, and -- using simplified sets and props worthy of any middle school production -- he presents a medley of songs that introduces each Best Picture nominee -- even enlisting Anne Hathaway to sit in as Richard Nixon in the Frost/Nixon segment. In addition to the five Best Picture nominees, there are tributes to The Dark Knight and The Wrestler.   View opening (7:45)
