In this romantic drama -- part silent, part talkie -- a carnival worker father dreams of a better life for his son. Milton Sills plays Nifty Miller, the carnival sideshow barker. Douglas Fairbanks Jr. is his son Chris, and Nifty wants Chris to go to graduate school so he can live a more stable and financially secure life. But in spite of Nifty's efforts, Chris is taken with the fascinating life behind the scenes of a carnival. He becomes even more settled in when he meets beautiful carnie Lou (Dorothy Mackaill).
