Drag

US (1929): Drama/Lost

Arne Anderson reports that rumors of a print of Drag on laser disc at UCLA have proved to be false. The film must be added to the list of the "Lost."

He also wrote: "Frank Lloyd received three Oscar® noms in 1929 for his work on a silent film (The Divine Lady), a part-talkie (Weary River) and a full talkie (Drag). One cannot quibble with his win for The Divine Lady - it's quite well done. Weary River does not seem worthy of a directorial nod and we are unable to give an opinion on Drag, although contemporary reviews called it an incredibly boring talk-fest. Perhaps it was Lloyd's versatility in tackling all three aspects of the silent to sound transition that was being recognized.

"The plot hinges on a young newly married couple upon whom in-laws descend and the problems that arise due to their interference." (IMDb)
