George Arliss' most famous role -- the Prime Minister of Great Britain who outwits the subterfuge of the Russians and chicanery at home in order to secure the purchase of the Suez Canal. Arliss made a silent version of the stage play for UA in 1921; this sound production, with screenplay by Julien Josephson and directed by Alfred E. Green, was made by Warner Bros.
