Come and Get It(a.k.a. "Roaring Timbers") US (1936): Drama
In 1884, lumberman Barney Glasgow (Edward Arnold) leaves his true love, saloon singer Lotta Morgan (Frances Farmer), to marry Emma Louise (Mary Nash), his boss's daughter. His buddy Swan Bostrom (Walter Brennan) marries Lotta instead. Barney becomes a lumber magnate by stripping the Wisconsin forests, without re-planting. After 23 years, Barney finally visits Swan. Lotta has died, but Barney is smitten by their daughter Lotta Bostrom (Farmer, again), who looks almost like her mother. His lavish attentions to Lotta create gossip and a rivalry between Barney and his son Richard (Joel McCrea). Howard Hawks began directing the film, Richard Rosson directed the logging scenes, and William Wyler completed the film, with cinematography by Rudolph Maté and Gregg Toland. (IMDb)
