Wells Fargo

US (1937): Western

The vast, episodic history of America's western expansion is told in the story of its expanding communications and transportation industries. Nineteenth-century America comes to life through the episodes depicting the Overland Mail, the Pony Express, Indian Wars, the Civil War, and, finally, the uniting of the country by the railroads. While Wells Fargo founder Henry O'Neill dispatches trusty aid Ramsay Mackay (Joel McCrea) through action-packed adventures, McCrea and his wife Frances Dee (also man and wife off-screen) must heal the wound to their marriage the Civil War brings. Frank Lloyd directs for Paramount. Supporting cast includes Lloyd Nolan, Ralph Morgan, Johnny Mack Brown, Robert Cummings and Harry Davenport. (amctv.com)
