Kentucky

US (1938): Romance/Drama

This bluegrass, horse-racing Romeo and Juliet romance has the love between two young Kentuckians, Loretta Young and Richard Greene, hampered by the smoldering feud that has separated their southern families for generations. Though Greene despises this legacy, Young's pride breaks them up and the family conflict is only resolved in the great Kentucky Derby, with each family's horse running neck and neck. Young's bitter, unforgiving uncle (Walter Brennan), dies before he sees his horse win. With his death, the lovers have a chance to bring the feud to an end. Prime Young melodrama directed by David Butler for Fox. (amctv.com)
