Under Western Stars
US (1938): Western
Singing cowboy Roy Rogers stars in his first big role as a congressman from the drought-stricken dustbowl who goes to battle in Washington (with Dale Evans and sidekick Smiley Burnette at his side) for the folks back home. This was the first collaboration between Rogers and director Joseph Kane. Not wanting to spoil their success, Republic studio chief Herbert J. Yates would pair the two in another 40 films.
