Vivacious Lady

US (1938): Comedy

James Stewart, a small-town botany teacher, and Ginger Rogers, a flashy New York nightclub singer, marry on a whim and return to his home to set up housekeeping. They try to keep the wedding a secret from Stewart's father (Charles Coburn), a stuffy college president, and mother (Beulah Bondi), who is subject to phony heart palpitations. Culture-clash comedy follows. George Stevens provides Rogers's natural comedic talent good support and her platinum beauty glows in every scene in this RKO release with James Ellison, Frances Mercer, Franklin Pangborn, Grady Sutton and Jack Carson.
