Second Fiddle

US (1939): Comedy/Musical

In this Irving Berlin musical the leads Tyrone Power and Sonja Henie don't sing! Otherwise it is a perfectly enjoyable minor musical with skating champion Henie up for a big role in Hollywood. Studio PR man Power convinces her aunt (Edna May Oliver -- who steals the show) to let the skater make the trip to Tinseltown, and then creates a PR stunt romance between Henie and her costar, Rudy Vallee. Innocent Henie gets her heart broken, but Power wants to be her leading man and creates a romantic scenario for himself. Sidney Lanfied directs for Fox. (amctv.com)
