Drums Along the Mohawk

US (1939): Historical/Adventure/War

Henry Fonda and Claudette Colbert star as newlyweds whose simple life in the Mohawk Valley is savagely disrupted by Indian raids. Colbert is terrific as the city girl adjusting to life on the frontier. Director John Ford's only film set in colonial America and the first one that he shot in color. Sonya Levien adapted the Walter D. Edmonds novel. The great Fox cast also includes Edna May Oliver (in an Oscar®-nominated role), Eddie Collins and John Carradine. (amctv.com)
