The touching story of Mr. Chipping, a shy Latin professor at an English boys' school (Robert Donat) who finds happiness and fulfillment with an outgoing, vivacious woman (Greer Garson). But after her tragic death, he dedicates his life to his charges. Garson was nominated for an Oscar® in her film debut, and Donat won for his best-remembered role -- which was originally intended for Charles Laughton. Based on the novel by James Hilton.
