The Howards of Virginia
US (1940): Drama/War
A grand historical epic about a Virginia couple (Cary Grant and Martha Scott) from differing backgrounds during the Revolutionary War. Their families' growing involvement in the conflict force them to choose between their feelings for one another and their differing political beliefs. Quite interesting if you're fascinated by all things Colonial, but otherwise pretty standard.
Frank Lloyd's feature for Columbia was shot on location in the historically restored town of Williamsburg, Virginia. The restoration of the town began in 1927 and was mainly financed by John D. Rockefeller. (amctv.com)
