A fanciful bio of the notorious outlaw (Robert Taylor) that depicts his life of crime resulting from the killing of an outlaw friend. Academy Award^® nomination for Best (Color) Cinematography. Supporting cast includes Brian Donlevy, Ian Hunter, Mary Howard, Gene Lockhart, Lon Chaney Jr., and Henry O'Neill.

Part of David Miller's (and uncredited Frank Borzage's) film for MGM was shot in Monument Valley, on the Navajo reservation. Over the years, Monument Valley became most identified with director John Ford, who made The Searchers (1956) and six other films there. (amctv.com)
