Blues in the Night

Anatole Litvak directs this adaptation by Robert Rossen of Edwin Gilbert's play. It examines a jazz quintet and the lifestyle of the musicians. The story takes a backseat to the strong performances, including the appearance of future directors of fame, Elia Kazan and Richard Whorf. Best remembered for its music, which includes the Academy Award®-nominated title song. The Warner Bros. cast also includes Priscilla Lane, Betty Field, Lloyd Nolan, Jack Carson, Wallace Ford and Howard Da Silva. (amctv.com)
