So Ends Our Night
US (1941): Drama/War
This features striking performances by Fredirc March, as a German who leaves his wife and home to flee Hitler's society, and Margaret Sullavan and Glenn Ford as a Jewish couple also on the run. March returns to visit his dying wife (Frances Dee) despite the SS agents on his tail, and Ford and Sullavan make it to the temporary safety of Paris. A trademark evil-Nazi role for Erich Von Stroheim in an adaptation of Erich Maria Remarque's 1941 novel Flotsam. This picture, directed by John Cromwell for UA, marked the first screen credit for future producer/director Stanley Kramer, who served as a production assistant on the film. (amctv.com)
