When Ladies Meet

US (1941): Comedy/Romance

Robert Z. Leonard directs this MGM romantic comedy, a remake of his 1933 film of the same name. Joan Crawford is a novelist with advanced ideas about women's liberation, including free love with her married publisher Herbet Marshall. Robert Taylor has his cap set for Crawford, so when Crawford decides to steal Marshall away from wife Greer Garson, Taylor arranges for the two women to spend time together. They become friends and it becomes clear what kind of man Marshall really is. The two female leads give sharp portrayals in an interesting look at the period's picture of the modern woman.
