The Corsican Brothers

US (1941): Adventure/Epic

Alexandre Dumas pére, endless source of costume-epic plots, supplied the story of Siamese twins, sons of a Corsican nobleman, who are separated and hidden just as the entire family is wiped out by a robber baron. Twenty years later the two young men meet. One grew up in Paris, the other sheltered by a family retainer in Corsica. The brothers have a telepathic link and feel each other's emotions. They once again separate, but this time to confuse and wreak vengeance on the villain responsible for the demise of their kin. Great dual role for Fairbanks, who joined the US Navy -- where he became a Lt. Commander -- immediately after the film was released. Gregory Ratoff directs for Edward Small/UA; supporting cast includes Ruth Warrick, Akim Tamiroff, J. Caroll Naish, H.B. Warner and Henry Wilcoxon. (amctv.com)
