My Sister Eileen

US (1942): Romance/Comedy

This charming fish-out-of-water comedy has two sisters from Ohio arriving in New York's Greenwich Village, eager to make a go of it. Romance is in the air for the younger and a writing career is within reach for the elder. This Alexander Hall-directed Columbia film, starring Rosalind Russell and Janet Blair, was not only remade in 1955 with Janet Leigh and Betty Garrett, it was also turned into a 1960-61 TV series with Shirley Bonne and Elaine Stritch. Brian Aherne, George Tobias, Allyn Joslyn, Elizabeth Petterson, Grant Mitchell, Richard Quine and June Havoc provide support in this 1942 original. (amctv.com)
