Take a Letter, Darling
(a.k.a. "Green-Eyed Woman" -- UK)

US (1942): Romance/Comedy

This gender-bending screwball comedy has Rosalind Russell, an advertising executive, facing a delicate problem: Her male clients' wives jump to the wrong conclusions about the way she handles their accounts. She hires artist Fred MacMurray as her assistant and stand-in when a phony fiancé would be handy. But her one female client, Constance Moore, seems too much attracted to MacMurray and the usually buttoned-up Russell realizes she's gaga for her guy Friday. Watch for Robert Benchley's wry humor in support. Russell's role was originally to be played by Claudette Colbert, but she was unavailable because of her work on Preston Sturges's comedy The Palm Beach Story (1942). Mitchell Liesen directs this Paramount release. Cast includes Macdonald Carey, Charles Arnt, Cecil Kellaway and Dooley Wilson. (amctv.com)
