H. Bruce Humberstone directs this patented Alice Faye Fox musical set in San Francisco's Barbary Coast at the turn of the last century. The romantic musical features a love triangle in which Faye is a singer hired by saloon owner John Payne. She develops a crush on him but he's interested in a society girl (Lynn Bari). Faye becomes an international star and Payne pines. Songs include "San Francisco," the Oscar®-winning "You'll Never Know," "Strike Up the Band," "Has Anybody Here Seen Kelly?" and "Ragtime Country Joe."
