Princess O'Rourke

US (1943): Comedy/Romance

When his plane is forced to return to the ground, pilot Robert Cummings takes charge of a pretty passenger (Olivia de Havilland) who has taken sleeping pills for the trip, and can't be revived. He brings her back to his apartment, she recovers, and the two are soon smitten, becoming engaged almost immediately. Much to Cummings's surprise, his anonymous houseguest-fiancée turns out to be a princess in the U.S. looking for a husband. Though a pilot isn't what father Charles Coburn had in mind, he approves and plans for a wedding at the White House. But Cummings objects when he will have to renounce his U.S. citizenship to marry the girl he loves. Made with the participation of First Film Fan FDR and his Scottie dog, Fala, who both appear. Written and directed by Norman Krasna for Warner Bros. Cast also includes Jack Carson, Jane Wyman, Harry Davenport and Gladys Cooper. (amctv.com)
