The Sky's the Limit

US (1943): Musical/Comedy

Harold Arlen's glorious "My Shining Hour" tops the score of this Fred Astaire picture, in which he plays a Flying Tiger hero on a 10-day leave who disguises himself in order to romance a news photographer. Neon lights were carefully attached to each musical instrument to shoot the "My Shining Hour" musical number. And, if that's not enough, there's Astaire doing Arlen & Mercer's "One for My Baby (And One More for the Road)." That dance sequence, choreographed by Astaire, was another of the year's highlights. With Joan Leslie, Robert Benchley and Robert Ryan. Directed by Edward H. Griffith for RKO. (amctv.com)
