Casanova Brown

US (1944): Comedy

Mildly risqué comedy for its time. Cooper is set to marry his sweetheart when he discovers that his ex-wife has delivered a baby and that he's the father! But when the ex decides to put the girl up for adoption, he kidnaps the baby and prepares to raise her himself. True love, of course, is rekindled. The situation must have appealed: it was filmed twice before (1930 and 1939) as Little Accident. This cast includes Teresa Wright, Frank Morgan, Anita Louise, Edmund Breon, Patricia Collinge and Jill Esmond. This was an independent production, directed by Sam Wood, made by International pictures and distributed by RKO. Cooper made two films with International -- the other was Along Came Jones (1945).
