A lad with a penchant for trouble (Lon McCallister) is sent to live with his aunt and uncle (Walter Brennan and Charlotte Greenwood) in Indiana. Though he's not happy about the arrangement at first, his love of horses and his affection for a young colt that he plans to race make life bearable. He also finds romance with tomboyish Char (Jeanne Crain) who shares his love for horses. Henry Hathaway directs a cast that also includes June Haver, Ward Bond, Charles Dingle and Robert Condon.
