The Princess and the Pirate

US (1944): Comedy/Adventure

Bob Hope stars as a 17th-century entertainer who falls for a princess (Virginia Mayo, in her first starring role), whom he'd saved from pirates. Great costumes, great sight gags (including a walk-on from rival Bing Crosby), great pirates, particularly Walter Brennan. David Butler directs the Paramount cast that also includes Walter Slezak and Victor McLaglen. (amctv.com)
