US (1944): Comedy
This is the same plot as Getting Gertie's Garter (1927 & 1945) and is both a staple stage farce plus a popular film in two versions (the first was in 1926). Dennis O'Keefe plays the young man who is engaged but who, in a moment of infatuation, once had a particularly private item of clothing from his fiancée engraved with identifying information and now the recipient of this item will be spending the weekend with him at his fiancée's home. It's fast and furious and fun but just fluff. Cast includes Marjorie Reynolds, Gail Patrick, Mischa Auer, Charlotte Greenwood and Binnie Barnes. All do well.
