A Henry Hathaway men-under-fire tale follows the crew of a Pacific-based aircraft carrier as they battle the Japanese in the early days of WW II. Don Ameche plays the flight commander and Dana Andrews the squadron leader. The cast also includes William Eythe, Charles Bickford, Cedric Hardwicke, Kevin O'Shea, Richard Jaeckel and Harry Morgan. The film also features an appearance by Blake Edwards as a pilot, one of nine films he acted in that year. Edwards is best known as a screenwriter and a director whose work includes The Pink Panther (1964), 10 (1979), and Victor/Victoria (1982). (amctv.com)
