Blood on the Sun

US (1945): Drama/War/Action/Thriller

James Cagney plays Nick Condon, an American editor in Japan. It's the late 1930s, and Condon not only rails against the Rising Sun's imperialist tendencies, but has caught wind of the Japanese plans to drop a bomb on the United States. Notable for mirroring of national mood after WW II. Despite its pervasive anti-Japanese rhetoric (and the fact that Asians are played by Caucasians) Cagney turns in a fine performance - both his acting and his judo! Frank Lloyd directs a cast that also includes Sylvia Sidney, Porter Hall, John Emery, Robert Armstrong, Wallace Ford and Rosemary DeCamp. (Cagney Prod./UA) (amctv.com)
