Here Come the Waves

US (1944): Musical/Comedy

In this snappy Bing Crosby musical comedy, he plays a popular Sinatra-like crooner doing Navy WAVE shows who meets identical twins (both played by Betty Hutton). He falls hard but can't tell one from the other -- and one twin hates him. The Harold Arlen-Johnny Mercer score includes "That Old Black Magic" and Academy Award®-nominated "Accentuate the Positive." Crosby satirizes Sinatra by crooning "That Old Black Magic" (a huge hit for Sinatra) in front of a crowd of swooning bobby-soxers. Mark Sandrich directs a Paramount cast that also includes Sonny Tufts, Ann Doran, Gwen Crawford, Noel Neill and Catherine Craig. (amctv.com)
