US (1945): Sports/Comedy/Crime
In a sprightly Alan Ladd vehicle directed by Raoul Walsh, racetrack hound Ladd and his pal (William Demarest) scheme to pay back a gambling debt before there are dire consequences. They find a fast horse but it's rideable only by a banned jockey (Stanley Clements). They finagle him into the race by using his underage brother's ID, but that means he has to go back to jockey school. There he takes a liking to his teacher (Gail Russell), but so does Ladd. Supporting cast includes Bruce Cabot, Spring Byington, Rex Williams and Darryl Hickman. (Paramount) (amctv.com)
