Uncle Remus (James Baskett) draws upon his tales of Brer Rabbit to help little Johnny (Bobby Driscoll) deal with his confusion over his parents' separation as well as his new life on the plantation. The tales: The Briar Patch, The Tar Baby and Brer Rabbit's Laughin' Place. Harve Foster directs the live action sequences; Wilfred Jackson directs the cartoons. Cast also includes Ruth Warrick, Luana Patten, Lucile Watson and Hattie McDaniel. Because of its extensive African-American stereotypes, this film is unofficially disowned by the Disney company; it has never been released on video or DVD in the USA. (Disney/RKO Radio) (IMDb)
