On Seal Island

US (1948): Short/Family

The first Disney "True-Life Adventure." This excellent documentary short studies the saga of life on Seal Island, one of the tiny specks of land in the Bering Sea. We witness the arrival of the bull fur seals, who stake out individual territory on the beach and await the arrival of the females. We see how the harems are gathered and how the young are tended. Other inhabitants of the island, including its myriad and colorful bird life, are noted. Written and directed by James Algar. (IMDb)
