Here Comes the Groom

US (1951): Comedy/Musical

In this light comedy directed by Frank Capra, Pete Garvey (Bing Crosby), foreign correspondent, has been running an impromptu adoption agency for war orphans in Paris, when an ultimatum from his erstwhile fiancée Emmadel Jones (Jane Wyman) draws him back to Boston, complete with two adopted orphans to melt her heart. Too late! She's now engaged to rich, handsome Wilbur Stanley (Franchot Tone), who happens to have a beautiful sister (Alexis Smith). And if Pete's not married within five days, he loses the kids. He'll have to work fast! Songs include "Misto Christofo Columbo" (peformed by Crosby, Dorothy Lamour and Louis Armstrong -- who appear uncredited), Crosby solos "Bonne Nuit" and "Your Own Little House," and a Crosby-Wyman duet, the Oscar®-winning "In the Cool, Cool, Cool of the Evening."
