Because You're Mine

US (1952): Musical/Comedy

An opera star (Mario Lanza) who is drafted into the Army thinks he has it made when he learns his sergeant (James Whitmore) is an opera buff, but complications result when he falls for the sarge's sister (Doretta Morrow). Somewhat of a letdown after The Great Caruso (1951), but still entertaining. Cast also includes Dean Miller, Rita Corday, Jeff Donnell, Spring Byington, Don Porter and Bobby Van. Musical numbers include "Angels Song," "Lee-Ah-Loo," "Questa o quella," "Per me, ora fatale" and the Oscar®-nominated title song. Alexander Hall directs for MGM. (E! Online)
