Walter Lang directs this Fox rendition of the successful Irving Berlin/Crouse and Lindsay Broadway musical (1950-1952). Ethel Merman plays Sally Adams, Washington D.C.'s "Hostess with the Mostes," who becomes US ambassador to a post-WW I European kingdom, captivating the handsome Prime Minister and encouraging the romance of her aide with an enchanting young Princess. Cast includes Donald O'Connor, Vera-Ellen, George Sanders, Billy De Wolfe, Walter Slezak, Ludwig Stössel and Lilia Skala. Some of the musical numbers are "It's a Lovely Day Today," "That International Rag," "The Ocarina," "the Best Thing for You," "Something to Dance About" (Vera-Ellen's vocals dubbed by Carole Richards) and "You're Just in Love."
