Trial

US (1955): Drama

This taut, political courtroom drama manages to attack racism and social injustice while denouncing communism. Glenn Ford is an idealistic young attorney certain the young Mexican-American boy he's defending, Rafael Campos, didn't commit the murder for which he's standing trial, and the angry, white lynch mob outside the courtroom won't convince him otherwise. The judge is willing to let Ford have his say, but communist agitator Arthur Kennedy tries to make the case into something it's not. Don M. Mankiewicz adapted his novel to the screen. Mark Robson directs for MGM. Cast also features Dorothy McGuire, John Hodiak, Katy Jurado and Elisha Cook Jr. (amctv.com)
