Ray Henderson (Dan Dailey) joins Buddy De Sylva (Gordon MacRae) and Lew Brown (Ernest Borgnine) to form a successful 1920s musical show writing team. They soon have several hits on Broadway, but De Sylva's personal ambition leads to friction as the other two increasingly feel left out of things. Michael Curtiz directs for Fox. Cast also features Sheree North, Tommy Noonan, Murvyn Vye, Phyllis Avery and Larry Keating. Some of the songs featured in the film include "Lucky Day," "If I Had a Talking Picture of You," "Button Up Your Overcoat," "Good News," "You're the Cream in My Coffee," "Birth of the Blues" and the title tune sung by Sheree North (actually dubbed by Eileen Wilson).
