A colorful and informative film biography of Franklin D. Roosevelt illustrates his courageous battle against infantile paralysis and his political foes. FDR (Ralph Bellamy) and Elanor Roosevelt (Greer Garson) are compassionate bluebloods who dedicate their lives to their five children an well as the nation. Roosevelt suffers debilitating illness that strikes him at the prime of his life. Elanor faithfully helps him regain his strength to become one of America's most influential presidents. His efforts also help establish the March of Dimes, which helps raise money to fight polio and help those afflicted with similar problems. Hume Cronyn plays FDRs political strategist Louis Howe, who forms a successful triumvirate with the Roosevelts. Greer Garson was nominated for an Academy Award® for her portrayal of Elanor Roosevelt. She was robbed of the award when sympathy votes went to Elizabeth Taylor who had recently recovered from a near fatal illness. Vincent J. Donehue directs for Warner Bros.
