(1976): Documentary
The director of this film, Michael Firth, and a cast and crew of thrill-seekers have filmed a story about a pair of adrenalin-junkies who head off to the high mountains of New Zealand to ski and hang-glide in wild and unprotected areas. Their genuinely real stunts are performed in the Mount Cook area, which makes this almost a documentary. However, the two athletes cook up a storyline about being alone and unable to contact the Park Service if anything should happen to them, which clearly throws this into the category of fiction. Awesome footage of maximum-risk skiing and hang-gliding rescue the movie from such contrivances, however. (Clarke Fountain, All Movie Guide)
