Le Vent des amoureux![]() (The Lovers' Wind) France-Iran (1978): Documentary
Written and directed by Albert Lamorisse, director of acclaimed short fantasy films, notably The Red Balloon (1956), who made an unsuccessful foray into features in the 1960s. Lamorisse also invented Helivision, an apparatus enabling filming from a helicopter.
The country of Iran is the subject of this documentary, which skillfully uses many helicopter shots to give a suggestion of the vast size and landscape of that ancient country. Unfortunately, Lamorisse was killed in a helicopter crash while filming Le Vent des amoureux in Iran in 1970. The film was completed by his widow and released eight years later. (Hollywood.com)
