US (1978): Drama/Short

In this 33-minute drama, based on a novel by Lillian Smith and written and directed by Seth Pinsker, an African-American painter endures racism in his Georgia hometown. The year is 1948 and blacks have just been given the vote. He, however, stays away from the ballot box. Eventually he is persuaded to get involved and as a result is killed.
