Tout rien
(All Nothing)
(subtitle: "A Parable of Hope for the Earth")

Canada (1980): Animated/Short

Non-verbal, 12-minute animated film by Frédéric Back depicts the days of creation in all their magnificence. Adam and Eve desire to have the gifts of all the creatures around them. God lets them understand what it is like to be fish, animal, bird. But nothing satisfies them. Finally God leaves them to face themselves as they are - naked before his eyes. In anger they desert God as they and their descendants plunder the earth, making weapons of violence and death and exploiting nature's resources only to adorn and satisfy themselves. Finally, a child, recognizing the cruelty and destruction around her, gives of herself to begin restoring nature. (Catholic Diocese of Salina)
