On Hope
US (1994): Short
JoBeth Williams was encouraged by Kevin Costner to pursue her ambition to direct while she was playing Bessie Earp, a spunky former prostitute in Wyatt Earp (1994). With additional support from Linda Yellin, who had directed Williams in the acclaimed improvisational TV-movies "Chantilly Lace" and "Parallel Lives" (both 1993), she made her directorial debut on Showtime with On Hope. This film on female friendship starred Annette O'Toole and Mercedes Ruehl and was written by Lynn Mamet (sister of David). (Hollywood.com)
