The Postcard begins obviously around a card. Mailed in the Antilles, it is addressed by a father to his son. We immediately realize that the mother and son are ready to leave for the funeral mass for the father in question. Certain that his father is alive and well, the boy refuses to believe that there is a body in the coffin, and indifferent to the solemnity of the moment, worries about a young woman who keeps herself away from the procession.
