In a future where crimes are reported and prevented before they occur, Detective John Anderton (Tom Cruise), one of the system's leading advocates, finds himself named as the murderer in an as-yet-uncommitted crime. Convinced that the report is wrong, Anderton must try and solve the puzzle before he is caught by his own agency.
