When Peter Parker (Tobey Maguire), a socially awkward high school student, is bitten by a strange spider, he finds he has developed spider-like super powers. Soon he is using his wall-climbing, web-shooting abilities to fight the evil Green Goblin (Willem Dafoe) while he competes for the affections of a beautiful classmate (Kirsten Dunst) with the Goblin's son (James Franco).
