Harry Sanborn (Jack Nicholson) is an aging music executive with a taste for younger women. When he suffers a heart attack and is forced to remain at the home of Erica Barry (Diane Keaton), a successful playwright and the mother of his latest girlfriend (Amanda Peet), the two embark on a tentative relationship that surprises them both.
