When the three Baudelaire children [Violet (Emily Browning), Klaus (Liam Aiken) and Sunny (Kara and Shelby Hoffman)] lose their parents in a fire, they are sent to live with a series of relatives, including the sinister Count Olaf (Jim Carrey), who plots to kill them and inherit their fortune, Uncle Monty (Billy Connolly), who lives in a house full of snakes, and the terrified Aunt Josephine (Meryl Streep).
